I’m off to a good start with my New Year’s resolutions — to be patient, to practice portion control, and to carve out face time for people instead of relying on digital communication.

So, with a new month at hand and a little momentum at my back, I hereby go on record as setting a modest goal for February: to exercise each and every day.

I started with Sunday morning yoga, as I usually do with Lori. This morning, I ran — and, yes, I got soaked. The rest of the month, I hope, will see me working in a mix of running, weights and swimming — and perhaps some time on the elliptical.

No biggie if I fall short. Not gonna put that kind of pressure of myself. But it would be nice to reach the month’s end and look back in my exercise log to see I have lived up to my pledge.

  1. Well, that didn’t last long. My February pledge to exercise every day ran up against cold symptoms that started Friday, continued Saturday and worsened today (Feb. 8). Managed to run and lift the weights the past two days, but I’m feeling pretty lousy today. Guess I’ll have to try again later this year.
